One of my favorite projects last year was a pet calendar I was commissioned to do for Solaire–a recently-0pened luxury apartment highrise in San Francisco’s downtown SoMa district. It’s a very, very pet-friendly building with over a hundred dogs and cats living there (along with their people, of course). The general manager wanted to do something special for them as a combo end-of-year-welcome-to-the-building gesture so we put together a email blast to the residents and had 12-months worth of excited pet guardians signed up within a couple of days.
For the two full shoot days I had complete access to the building — including the gigantic residents’s lounge and common areas as well as the well-appointed model units. This was great because we were able to bring elements of the building into each shot. As a result the whole calendar has a real sense of place.
Many thanks to Kevin and Anne who assisted on the shoot days and special tip of the hat to my designer friend Laura at Sophella for making the final product fun and sophisticated. Check out some of my favorite shots below along with a few of the calendar itself and some behind-the-scenes action.
I’d love to do more of these types of projects so you if you are part of a pet-focused or pet-related business and are interested in working on a promotional project for your clients or employees I’d love to talk with you.
