With all the spleen and vitriol out there during this interminable election season I can honestly say it was a genuine pleasure to spend a rainy weekend in the mud at the Pet Food Express Bay Area Pet Fair last month. I wasn’t alone. Close to 40,000 people from across the Bay Area came and adopted nearly 1100 dogs, cats, bunnies, birds and other animals in need of homes. For someone like me who lives for seeing those genuinely touching moments when pets and people bond it was a heavenly two days.
I know I’m grateful to have been part of the weekend and want to extend thanks to all those 70+ rescue groups and countless volunteers that made it happen. You did a lot of good for a lot of animals.
I hope these images from the adoption-fair weekend help lift your spirits after this week. Remember, the best way to lighten your mood and feel better is to do good for someone else. There are lots of great animal welfare organizations out their in need of help. If you haven’t done so before consider volunteering. You won’t regret it.
