With all the toxic goings on during the election season I sometimes need a solid hit of goodwill. Seeing people help animals and each other tends to do the trick for me and there’s better no place for me to get a good dose of that than working a Veterinary Street Outreach Service clinic. VET SOS is where the pets of San Francisco’s homeless receive free care from volunteer veterinarians, vet techs and others. I’ve been volunteering for VET SOS close to 10 years now and it’s always a soul-lifting experience. The human-animal bond is in full force there and it doesn’t hurt when the clients include puppies, kittens and lots of great dogs and cats.
Here are some shots from the last clinic I attended in July. Enjoy and if you are interested in volunteering for or donating to VET SOS please drop by their website.
