A lot of my pet advertising photography tends to be one or two-day shoots that involve professionally-cast animals and trainers but this year I got to work on a really fun commercial job that was a bit different. For those of you who don’t know–I didn’t before this project–Avoderm is a premium pet food made with avocados as one of the ingredients (hence the Avo in the name) that’s particularly good for dogs and cats with skin issues.
For their new campaign the company wanted to follow dogs who’d recently switched over to Avoderm and then track the positive changes in them over the course of 6-8 weeks. This was great because I actually got to see what a difference the food made and really got to know the dogs well since I photographed them multiple times. It got even better because they sourced the dogs through the Tony LaRussa Animal Rescue Foundation‘s Food Share program which provides quality pet food to low-income pet guardians.
At the end of this process I did hero shots of several of the dogs that were then used as part of the promotional campaign which is currently underway. You can see several of the promos below and perhaps notice that one of them is for a chance to win a pet photo shoot which happens to be with me! Check it out if you want to enter and make your pet famous.
