Even though I’ve been photographing VETSOS (Veterinary Street Outreach Service) clinics for a number of years now, each one always has an impact on me. I work in a field where I see firsthand the human-animal bond in action on a daily basis but nowhere do I see it on a level like I do at a VETSOS event.
Even in a temperate city like San Francisco the streets are a rough and dangerous place to be and VETSOS clients and their animals truly rely and depend on each other for support and protection. We constantly hear from clients that the animals get fed first and often are their very best friend.
If you haven’t heard of VETSOS before please check out their website or facebook page to learn more. If you live in San Francisco and are interested in a life-changing volunteer opportunity please consider signing up to work a clinic. VETSOS always needs both veterinary-trained and general volunteers to help out.
